Provincial Academy Manager

Munster Rugby in conjunction with the IRFU National Academy Board wish to recruit a Provincial Academy Manager. Closing date for applications is close of business June 25th.

Provincial Academy Manager

Working Responsibility to: The Representative of Provincial Academy Board (Chief Executive)

Accountable to: National Academy Board

Key Performance Indicator:High percentage Academy member induction into the Professional Game

A summary of the job To manage and co-ordinate the Provincial Academy structure. To organise, provide all the necessary support for both the technical and physical conditioning of the members in accordance with agreed I.R.F.U. templates. To ensure the Provincial Academy operates within agreed financial parameters. To provide all the necessary H.R. and disciplinary elements in accordance with the Academy members contract. To facilitate the integration of the Academy players into the Professional Game Structure.

Responsibilities: ” To co-ordinate the Provincial Academy Programme

” To manage the Academy Programme within agreed financial parameters

” To ensure full compliance with all the skill and conditioning modules set out by the National Academy Board

” To ensure the provision of all necessary positional specific coaches/ tutors to assist player development

” To support Academy members in attaining established goals

” To record on individual player personnel files all relevant data on player achievements in all sectors of the game and specifically in the training and conditioning area

” To provide feed back to the Provincial Academy Board on all players in the system

” To work closely with all school/club coaches with players in the Academy system

” To work closely with the professional team structures to ensure the interface with the professional players occurs on a programmed basis

” To work closely with the medical structures to ensure compliance with agreed protocols

” To produce all relevant material for the academy process

” To work closely with the Player Development Group during the identification and screening process of new inductees into Academy Level 1/2

” To work closely with the H.R. Department of the I.R.F.U. with respect to the provision of support services to Academy members

” To be available to assist in any coaching or development programmes run by the I.R.F.U.

” To work closely with the U19/U21 Interprovincial and National Coaching structures

” To co-ordinate Academy members academic/work schedules with the Development Programme

Lateral Relationships:

” I.R.F.U. Academy Board

+ To attend and contribute at all meetings when requested

” Coaches of Provincial/National Representative Teams

+ Regular contact to ensure that there is a knowledge of Academy Programmes and players

” Provincial Directors of Coaching

+ Regular contact to develop the working relationship and the professional rugby apprenticeship aspects of the programme

” Provincial Development Manager

+ Strong working relationship is required to facilitate the implementation of the process across many areas

Personal Profile

General

A rounded individual, of good character, easy of address, understanding and considerate, demonstrating empathy in dealing with people, therefore having good interpersonal skills. Having rugby credibility within her/his area and experience at working at a range of levels within coach and player development.

Specific Attributes:

” Required to have a minimum of Level 2 coaching status and experience of coaching at both adult and youth levels within the game

” Have a range of experiences other that Rugby Football

” Sufficiently self-motivated to be able to work under her/his own direction to achieve stated objectives

” Have developed interpersonal skills therefore able to contribute as part of a group

” Able to lead, motivate and monitor the work of a team

” Complete understanding of the game of Rugby Football

” Able to demonstrate a single-minded approach to the position of Provincial Academy Manager

” Able to contribute to the formulation of Academy business and strategic plans
