Celtic League Reflection

The Ospreys remain the team of the moment after round three of this season’s competition, with Gavin Henson certainly the man of the moment.

The Neath-Swansea side outplayed the Cardiff Blues on Saturday evening, scoring five tries, with Henson masterminding much of what was happening, and collecting 19 points of his own in the 39-3 win.

Ulster, who lost at home last week, made amends on Saturday afternoon scoring a 19-13 win over Connacht in Galway, a win that sends them up to third place.

Between Ulster and the Ospreys sit Leinster, who collected their first win over Munster since the Celtic League final success in 2001. Munster had relied on the boot of Paul Burke, but Leinster collected two first half tries to secure the points.

On Saturday evening Glasgow Rugby confirmed their place as the leading team in Scotland with a 12-10 win over Edinburgh Rugby, which takes the Glaswegians up to fourth place.

Last season’s champions Llanelli Scarlets, continue to struggle, going down 15-0 at the Dragons on Friday night, with Ceri Sweeney scoring all the points for the Dragons from five penalties at a rain swept Rodney Parade.

Another great weekend for Celtic rugby, and the prospect of yet more to come.
