Hayman Out Of Test Match

Tight-head prop Carl Hayman has been forced out of the All Blacks side for Saturday because of an infected toe and he will be replaced by Greg Somerville

The All Blacks have made a change at tighthead prop for Saturday’s second Test against the Lions.

Greg Somerville starts in place of Carl Hayman, who is ruled out by an infected toe, and Campbell Johnstone moves on to the bench.

“Carl’s been on a course of antibiotics this week to deal with an infection in his foot,” said All Blacks coach Graham Henry. “He’s responding to treatment, but it’s a slow process. We were hopeful he’d come right in time to play this weekend, but that’s not the case. We are fortunate to have a player of Greg’s quality who can step in.”

Meanwhile,Auckland have named a strong squad to test the touring Lions rugby team in the lead-up to the third test in Auckland on Saturday week.

The Aucklanders, who include winger Joe Rokocoko and prop Saimone Taumoepeau, both backing up after the Junior All Blacks’ match against Australia A in Sydney tomorrow, meet the Lions at Eden Park on Tuesday.

Flanker Justin Collins will lead the side in the absence captain and No 8 Xavier Rush, who is sick.

Forwards: John Afoa, Chris Heard, Nick White, Saimone Taumoepeau, Semisi Telefoni, John Fonokalafi, Brad Mika, Bryce Williams, Kurtis Haiu, Justin Collins (captain), Jerome Kaino, Angus MacDonald, Daniel Braid.

Backs: Steve Devine, Tanela Moa, Tasesa Lavea, Sam Tuitupou, Isaia Toe’ava, Ben Atiga, Gavin Williams, Isa Nacewa, Tony Koonwaiyou, Joe Rokocoko, Brent Ward.
