Stringer Out For Up To Four Weeks

Munster will be without scrum-half Peter Stringer for Sunday’s clash with Leinster and for the Heineken Cup games against Sale Sharks and Castres Olympique.

Peter Stringer will miss Sunday’s Celtic League clash with Leinster after damaging a knee in training yesterday. Stringer is expected to be out of action for 3/4 weeks and so will also miss Munster’s opening games in the Heineken Cup.

With Stringer unavailable Munster coach Declan Kidney names three scrum-halves – Mike Prendergast, Frank Murphy and Tomas O’Leary – in his 25 strong squad for Sunday’s top of the table clash.

Also included in the squad is South African Anthon Pitout who arrived in Cork on Monday and Gary Connolly who marked his debuit last weekend with two tries.

Players who missed last weeked’s games, Shaun Payne, David Wallace and Alan Quinlan are all included in the squad. John O’Sullivan who has been out of action since withdrawing from the squad for the Ospreys game is back training while Anthony Horgan is expected to resume full training next week.

Kidney is expected to name his starting line-up on Friday lunchtime.
