Players Support CUH Charity Children’s Unit Appeal

Donncha O’Callaghan, Casey Laulala and Stephen Archer showed their support for the Cork University Hospital (CUH) Charity Children’s Unit Appeal by yesterday launching the charity’s upcoming Family Fun Day running on the 27th of April in Cork.

CUH Charity is a 2014 charity partner of Munster Rugby and, in partnership with Active Leisure, is hosting the Family Fun Day at the Ballincollig Rugby Club in Cork from 1:30-5:00 PM.

Professor Michael Molloy, Chairman of the CUH Charity, hopes Corkonians will support the Family Fun Day to help raise money for a worthy cause: “The CUH Charity is on its way to achieving its €;1.5 million fundraising goal for the Children’s Unit Appeal, but we need your help. Please show your support for our children by joining us for what promises to be a fun-filled afternoon. Together we can make a positive impact on the lives of young patients.”

CUH Children’s Unit serves the greater Munster area and attends to over 10,000 patients annually, making it one of the busiest units in the country. The current facilities have not been updated since the 1970’s and are in need of an urgent overhaul so that the hospital may provide the sick children of Munster with the best care possible.

Necessary refurbishment works include the provision of bathing, baby changing and breastfeeding facilities, isolation facilities, a high-dependency unit, a counselling room, palliative care facilities, en-suite rooms and a sensory area for children with special needs.

Admission to the Family Fun Day is €;20 per family (2 adults 2 children, €;5 each extra person) with all proceeds going to the CUH Charity’s Children’s Unit Appeal. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance of the event. Activities on the day include bungee trampolines, train rides, climbing walls, carnival games, funfair rides, bouncing castles and slides, face painting and balloon modelling, and much more. Attendees will also get to enjoy a pirate adventure centre, a Disney jet ride, and a Farmer’s Market.

CUH Charity is always looking for volunteers, so to get involved with this event, or any of their other events, or for further information on the organisation, please visit www.cuhcharity.ie or email info@cuhcharity.ie
