Back-row Robin Copeland will start a two year contract with Munster in July and enters the province in a rich vein of form, having just won Player of the Tournament at the 2014 Nations Cup.

Copeland featured in all three of Irishmen’s games in the competition, nailing down a starting position against Russia and Romania. Ferocious at the breakdown, clever in the offload and powerful going forward were just some of the attributes Copeland displayed in a campaign that also saw him score two tries.

Copeland is a former Leinster Academy and St Mary’s College player, and following stints with Plymouth Albion and Rotherham Titans in the English Championship, he joined Cardiff Blues in 2012, going on to make 53 appearances for the Welsh side, scoring 8 tries along the way.

January saw him named in the preliminary 44-man squad for the 2014 Six Nations Championship, with the Wexford native making his debut for Ireland Wolfhounds in their 8-14 win over England Saxons later that month.

Such a fine Nations Cup campaign will no doubt put Copeland back on the radar of Ireland Head Coach Joe Schmidt, with the Autumn Internationals next on the Irish team agenda.
