Anticipation Builds: Season Tickets Now On Sale

New season and new European competition – with just 8 weeks to go, don’t miss your chance to cheer on Axel and the lads as part of the Red Army for the coming year.

Exciting times lie ahead for Munster Rugby as former player and captain Anthony Foley takes over the mantle of Head Coach, ably assisted by a mixture of new, existing and returning members to the Munster back room team, with former Munster players Brian Walsh, Mick O’Driscoll and Jerry Flannery beginning new contracts this week as Assistant Coach, Technical Advisor and Scrum Coach respectively. Still waiting on the return of Ireland and Emerging Ireland representatives, the first group of returning players commenced a pre-season training programme on Monday with Munster’s first home game of the season scheduled for August 29th against London Irish in the pre-season SEAT Challenge at the Waterford RSC.

With league and European fixtures to be announced later in the month, much anticipation surrounds the inaugural European Champions Cup, where Munster face three teams with whom they share a fine competitive history in Europe. Saracens, Sale Sharks and Clermont Auvergne are no strangers to Thomond Park, and will provide mouth-watering Pool 1 opposition, that’s sure to whet the appetite of all rugby fans.

Bringing even more excitement to season ‘14/’15 is the new dimension the Champions Cup will bring to the PRO12, as a place in Europe’s premier rugby competition for the following season will be dependent on good performances in the league. Under new rules, only the top 7 finishers from the PRO 12, with at least one club from each country participating in the league, will progress to Champions Cup action the following year.

Speaking in April, Munster Rugby CEO Garrett Fitzgerald said he believes these new changes will lead to a better league for spectators.

"The PRO12 will now determine whether you get into Europe, and your position will determine seeding. Your historical performance in Europe won't make any difference. It's becoming more like the Champions League model. If you don't perform then you won't get rewarded. I think it will be a much better PRO12 League as a consequence.”

Fans can also look forward to a new PRO12 experience when a redeveloped Musgrave Park (soon to renamed Irish Independent Park) will play host to four league encounters post completion of building works this December.

Add to all this the fact that season tickets now come with membership of the Munster Rugby Supporters Club and it really is a good time to join the foot soldiers of the Red Army. As well as guaranteeing the best price on tickets for each game, season ticket holders can also avail of; 10% discounts off all products in Lifestyle Sports, priority over public sale for European Champions Cup tickets (home and away pool games and play off stages) should you require them, access to 6 Nations tickets for the AVIVA Stadium and access to the MRSC Members Bar in Thomond Park Stadium on matchdays, just to name a few.
