See the action shots and read the thoughts of captain Peter O’Mahony as Munster prepare for Saturday’s sold out European Champions Cup encounter against Clermont Auvergne in Thomond Park – KO 5:30pm.

Munster captain Peter O’Mahony met with media following yesterday’s training session at UL and looked ahead to what will be a massive challenge on the field for the province this weekend.

“These are the days you want to be involved in, the biggest days in a club jersey. Fingers crossed it will be a great occasion.

“Clermont are a hugely competitive side, just look at their performances in the French Top 14 in the last few months. Even when they’re not going well, they’ve got guys in the team who can punish you from any part of the pitch and when they’re going forward they are a very tough side to stop. We’ll have to be on our game at the weekend."

O’Mahony will line out for Munster for the first time since playing a pivotal role in Ireland’s Guinness Series victories over South Africa and Australia. With such a large number of internationals featuring for both sides this weekend, Saturday’s intensity could be on a par with his international exploits

“It just doesn’t get any bigger, European-wise it’s nearly on a par with an international game. It’s going be hugely intense, in fact it’s never anything but when we play each other, always fiery with both teams not wanting to give an inch.”
