See the action shots as the newly redeveloped Irish Independent Park hosted its first competitive fixture for the clash of Ireland Wolfhounds and England Saxons on Friday night.

An 18-9 win for the visitors saw them run in two tries through Henry Slade and Christian Wade with the boot of Slade adding the rest of Saxons' tally. Three penalties from Ian Madigan accounted for Wolfhounds’ 9 points.

With Munster’s Felix Jones captaining the side from full-back, Keith Earls started in the centre while Andrew Conway was a late inclusion in the matchday squad following the withdrawal of Luke Fitzgerald due to illness.

An early injury for Fergus McFadden saw Conway feature within 15 minutes of the game.

A sell-out crowd of 8,200 enjoyed the international fixture in Cork. In keeping with safety regulations for new stadia, the increased capacity of the stadium (10,000) will be introduced on a phased basis with 8,200 the maximum capacity permitted for Friday night’s game.

Meanwhile, all 9 Munster representatives originally named in the extended Ireland squad of 46 have been included in the reduced squad of 38 for the opening two 6 Nations games between Italy and France.

Those remaining in Irish camp are: James Cronin, Paul O'Connell, Tommy O'Donnell, Peter O'Mahony, Conor Murray, Ian Keatley, Keith Earls, Felix Jones and Simon Zebo.

Murray trained well on Friday and is expected to be fit for the Italy clash this Saturday.
