Munster continued their preparations for Saturday’s Guinness PRO12 clash away to Ospreys at UL yesterday. View our training gallery and get the pre-match thoughts of Head Coach Anthony Foley.

Currently topping the PRO12 table, Munster’s run of good form of late has seen them vary their game between tight forward-driven plays and wide expansive running rugby, depending on what the situation requires.

Although always striving for further improvement, Foley remains happy with the progress to date.

“We’re the whole time trying to get to what we’re good at, and that’s playing with the ball in hand, at pace and interchanging between forwards and backs, while not taking our eye off how important the scrum, lineout and maul is – that’s our bread and butter.

“There are areas that we need to improve on but we’ve had a good block where things have stuck – that’s not to say we haven’t made mistakes, but you learn from mistakes also. It shows that the players are ambitious and willing to try stuff and that’s what we want – to see how far we can go with them.”

Ospreys away at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday is the next challenge for Foley’s men.

“We’ve come across them quite a bit over the years, not just in the league but in Europe too. They are a strong side, also in the top 5, and they put in a very good performance against Leinster last weekend. I thought they we’re unlucky in terms of the score and thought they had done enough to win it.

“This weekend it’s our turn to go where Leinster were and we understand that the same pressures will be on us, and they’ll be buoyed by the fact that they are getting three of their internationals back. We need to face up to that and not rest on our laurels of where we are in the league, but instead kick on and try to maintain where we are.”

Ospreys v Munster, Guinness PRO12 Round 17, Saturday March 7th at the Liberty Stadium – KO 2:40pm.
