Latest Video: What Motivates Conor Murray

Munster Rugby team partners MaxiNutrition catch up with Conor Murray on what motivates him to go that extra mile both on and off the field.

Together with his team training, Conor likes to squeeze in a few individual sessions to keep him sharp and ready for upcoming games. Catch a sneak peak of the Munster, Ireland and Lions scrum-half working on his speed and explosive power through a series of drills on a cold Portmarnock Beach in Dublin.

Conor cites the first five meters as "the time you have to be most efficient and most explosive as a scrum half, hence it's a huge part of my game and a huge part of my training"

The motivation as to why he puts himself through this extra training comes from a deep seated desire to be better than his closest competitors. "There are definitely days when you are not motivated to get out of bed and train, your body might be sore, you might be tired. I always think about my opposition or someone I want to be better than in another team or within my team who I know is probably up or I know would get out of bed and do that"

That competitive nature is also exemplified through his urge to keep his nutrition in check at all times "Again it's going back to your competitors, you know everyone else is looking after themselves and eating correctly, taking their supplements properly and at the right times, you know they're gonna be in a good position come the weekend, so you've gotta be like that too"
