Large Senior Representation Bolsters Munster ‘A’

Munster ‘A’ Head Coach Mick O’Driscoll has named another strong side for tomorrow’s interprovincial against the Connacht Eagles at Thomond Park, including the likes of JJ Hanrahan and returning international James Cronin in the matchday squad.

Another break in Guinness PRO12 action this weekend affords O’Driscoll the opportunity to feature ten Senior players alongside Academy and Club representatives. In total, seven changes are made to the starting line-up that defeated Ulster Ravens at Nenagh Ormond RFC almost a fortnight ago.

Cork Constitution loosehead Liam O’Connor comes in to join Kevin O’Byrne and Stephen Archer in the front row while an all new second row sees Academy lock John Madigan partner Shannon’s Frank Bradshaw Ryan. Madigan makes his first ‘A’ appearance of the season having successfully rehabbed a shoulder injury.

Sean Dougall and captain Jack O’Donoghue return to the back row at 7 and 8 respectively with Paddy Butler switching to number 6 for tomorrow’s clash.

Garryowen’s Neil Cronin continues at scrum-half with JJ Hanrahan bringing a wealth of playmaking experience to the 10 channel.

The inclusion of Hanrahan means the versatile Rory Scannell moves to the midfield alongside Ivan Dineen, while the only change in the back three sees Darren Sweetnam start at full-back with Luke O’Dea and Andrew Conway remaining on their respective wings.

Irish international James Cronin is included amongst the replacements. Cronin returns following a knee injury sustained during his RBS 6 Nations debut against Italy in February.

Munster A: Darren Sweetnam; Andrew Conway, Ivan Dineen, Rory Scannell, Luke O’Dea; JJ Hanrahan, Neil Cronin; Liam O’Connor, Kevin O’Byrne, Stephen Archer; John Madigan, Frank Bradshaw Ryan; Paddy Butler, Sean Dougall, Jack O’Donoghue – capt.

Replacements: Niall Scannell, James Cronin, Peter McCabe, Joe McSwiney, Lee Nicholas, Jamie Glynn, Dan Goggin, David Johnston, Diarmuid McCarthy.

Munster 'A' v Connacht Eagles, Thursday April 2nd at Thomond Park – KO 3pm.

Supporter Information: Please note there is free admission for all supporters with access via Turnstile 3 of the East Stand (T3) from 2pm. Only the East Stand will be open for this game.
