PRO12 Try Of The Season Nominations

Munster’s Robin Copeland are Jack O’Donoghue are both in contention for the Guinness PRO12 Try of the Season. A total of 8 tries are nominated for the accolade with the winner to be decided by a public vote.

Robin Copeland’s try – his third in the red jersey – came 29 minutes into Munster’s 21-20 defeat of Ulster at Thomond Park in Round 9 of the competition. Following some neat interplay between Duncan Williams and Ronan O’Mahony, the province found themselves within yards of the Ulster try-line, and, following some quick recycling on the ground, Williams, Ian Keatley and Denis Hurley put it through the hands to find Copeland who exploited a three-on-one overlap to touchdown.

Round 14 saw Jack O’Donoghue score his first try for the province as they enjoyed a 33-16 win over the Cardiff Blues at Irish Independent Park. Another great squad effort, the move began with a break from Denis Hurley just inside the Munster 22 who then offloaded to his midfield partner Keith Earls. Taking the ball at pace, Earls also made good headway as he danced inside a couple of Blues defenders before popping to JJ Hanrahan. Quick recycling in contact from Hanrahan and fast hands from Duncan Willams and Billy Holland saw Academy number 8 O’Donoghue time his run to perfection and break clean through the scampering Cardiff defence for the touchdown.

O’Donoghue’s nomination comes on the same week that he was named Academy Player of the Year at the 2015 Munster Rugby Awards.
