With two preseason wins under his belt, this weekend sees new Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus take charge of his first competitive match with Munster.  Heading to a venue where the province have not won since 2011, the South African knows his men will need to hit the ground running if they are to see any return for their efforts on the league table come Saturday evening.

“We played in contrasting conditions in the preseason games, wet one week, dry the next, and both games plans worked well.  We can take confidence from that but not too much.  I’m mindful that there will be a big step up in intensity this weekend, especially away.

Axel, Jerry (Flannery) and Felix (Jones) have warned me of what to expect and we know it’s going to be tough.  The brand of rugby they play is diverse and with a lot of new players it’s tough to pinpoint they style they will play this weekend.

“If you look at the names they have signed (the likes of Rhys Patchell and Jonathan Davies) you know it will be busy, fast and physical.  Plus add in their home support and we will be a little out of our comfort zone.  It’s a massive challenge but one that we are looking forward to.”
