U.C.C. Appoint New Director of Rugby

Gary Byrne has been appointed as Director of Rugby @ U.C.C.R.F.C. and has taken up the position for a period of three years.
Gary Byrne has been appointed as Director of Rugby @ U.C.C.R.F.C. and has taken up the position for a period of three years. Gary succeeds Jim Hartnett , who returned to Australia earlier in the year. Gary, a teacher by profession, brings vast coaching experience to the position having previously coached with St Mary’s College in Dublin as well as coaching the U.C.C. U-20 team for the past year. Under his guidance the U.C.C. U-20’s won the All Ireland League, defeating Bruff in the final. Gary principal responsibilities will be to coordinate coaching structure within the club while also being responsible for the running of the highly successful U.C.C. Academy.
Present players in the U.C.C. Academy include Munster squad members Steve Keogh, Frank Murphy, Conrad O’Sullivan and Dennis Leamy along with a host of other talented young players. Former Munster full back Pat Murray remains as first team coach while Munster u-21 coach Brain Hyland will act as his assistant. Conrad O’Sullivan remains as Club Captain for a second consecutive season.
