12th July 2002 By Munster Rugby
Shannon and Munster scrum-half Derek Hegarty has signed for Zurich Premiership side Leeds Tykes.
Derek Hegarty, 26, has been revealed as the latest player to join the Leeds Tykes this summer. Hegarty, an integral part of Shannon’s AIL championship winning side and Munster’s Heineken Cup finalists panel last season, joins the Yorkshire club with immediate effect.
Prior to moving to Munster, he played for Leinster and also featured in the Heineken Cup for them. Commenting on his signing Director of Rugby Phil Davies said, Derek is an exciting player who will challenge Scott Benton for the starting scrum half position. He is looking forward to the challenge of coming over to England and furthering his career.
