Munster to Receive 4000 Tickets for QTR Final

The issue over the allocation of tickets for the Heineken Cup quarter-final has been resolved with the following statement issued on Friday morning by European Rugby Cup Ltd.

?ERC can confirm that Leicester Tigers, in keeping with the Heineken Cup participation agreement, have guaranteed to supply Munster with 4,000 tickets for the Heineken Cup quarter-final match which takes place at Welford Road at 4.00pm on Sunday, 13 April.? (Statement ends).

It may be recalled that after the draw for the quarter final had been made, Leicester stated they would allocate 1000 tickets initially to Munster supporters , then cater for their own season ticket holders (13,000). In that scenario Munster could have only expected a further 500 tickets.

Munster’s Chief Executive Garrett Fitzgerald immediately contacted both ERC and Leicester, reminding them that under the Participation Agreement, Munster were entitled to 25% of tickets and that they (Munster) would be availing of their full entitlement. After protracted negotiations, Leicester have agreed to comply with the regulations as set down by ERC.

Fitzgerald said, ? We are happy that the issue has finally been resolved. Even though the capacity of the venue goes nowhere near being adequate to cater for the support, we respect Leicester’s right to play the game at Welford Road. They earned that right through their performance in the Pool stages and are fully entitled to choose the venue.

?From our point of view , we are fully aware that demand will far outstrip supply. We have only this morning (Friday) received confirmation of the number of tickets that will be available and we will sit down early next week with Branch officials and Munster management to work out the fairest and most equitable means of distributing the tickets.
