Ireland Under 21 captain Stephen Keogh will take no further part in this year s IRB U21 World Cup. The UCC player was forced to cry off the side for the game against Scotland last Tuesday and unfortunately the injury has not responded to treatment.
Keogh is expected to return home at the weekend and his place in the squad will be taken by Jody Danagher.(UL Bohemians) The decision to replace a back row player (Keogh) with a prop comes about because the Irish management believe they have sufficient cover in the back row while feeling the need to strengthen the front row area with physically demanding games ahead.
Ireland play Argentina in Iffley Road on Saturday. To reach the semi-finals, they must beat the Argentines, gain a bonus point and hope that South Africa beat Wales comprehensively the same day.
