Mallow RFC are delighted to announce that they are to incorporate for the first time a Golden Oldies Tag competition in to their successful North Cork Festival of Rugby which takes place over the weekend of 6th & 7th September.
Golden Oldies teams from throughout the province & beyond are invited to take part in this competition which will take place as part of Saturday’s activities.
Mallow club chairman Michael Lucey feels that this competition will be an exciting addition to this festival “we are currently holding a sevens summer programme in our club & are well aware of the very successful competitions being run in Limerick, Cork & Dublin, we hope to expect the enjoyment of these tag players into the autumn by inviting them to attend this festival”.
There has always been a very strong social aspect to the North Cork Festival & there are many good reasons for travelling other than the rugby. The established Jimmy Carey Cork (men’s) & North Cork Challenge Cup (women’s) competitions will also continue this year taking place over both Saturday & Sunday.
The Golden Oldie’s competition is open to teams of seven (suggested panel of ten) who must all be aged over 35. The entry fee for this competition has been set at a very attractive 30 to encourage the maximum number of teams to attend.
For those teams wishing to stay overnight discounted rates have been negogiated with local hotels.
