The pre-season friendly saw no less than six players sent to the sin-bin by referee Didier Men . With Barcelona Football Club President Joan Laporta in attendance the ‘blood and gold’ shirts of Perpignan dominated in a physical game against a Leicester side that included debutants, O’Driscoll, former All Black centre Daryl Gibson and Welsh prop Darren Morris but by and large it was an inexperienced Leicester side.
In contrast Perpignan included former Leicester pair, Franck Tournaire, Perry Freshwater Pascal Bomati and Fr d ric Cermeno, as well as lock Lionel Mallier and Australian fly-half Manny Edmonds. Neither Daniel Herbert or Dan Luger were availabe to make their eagerly awaited debut for the Heineken Cup runners up. O’Driscoll played for the opening half before been one of a number of players replaced at half-time.
