Only one side remain pointless after the opening series of games in the First Division of the Heineken Munster Junior League.

It was a good day for the visiting clubs, with Cobh Pirates on top of the table as a result of their 23-12 win over Youghal. Clanwilliam were the only home side not to lose, they were denied victory by a last minute penalty form Shane Markham as St Senan’s and Clanwilliam shared the spoils. The big game of the day between Bruff and Kilfeacle was postponed due to a death in the Kilfeacle club.

Thurles relegated for the time last season, scored eleven tries in their 72-3 win at Ballincollig. Cashel look like they will be amongst the challengers after an impressive 29-0 home win over Waterford City. Fermoy won the North Cork derby in Division Three with a 15-8 home win over Mallow, as Kinsale ran in nine tries at home to Dungarvan. In the Munster Seconds League Garryowen won the big game against Cork Constitution 27-19 and Dolphin over whelmed Sunday’s Well 72-0.
