In very difficult weather conditions, the Munster ‘A’ v Leinster ‘A’ interprovincial series game was transferred from Donnybrook to St. Columba’s, Rathfarnham on Wednesday.
Munster was under pressure from a bigger physical side for the first ten minutes when a penalty for offside at a ruck was awarded to Munster.
Jeffrey Hitchmough (Midleton College) scored to give Munster the lead. Leinster continued to press. On 30 minutes from a footrush, Leinster gained considerable ground to gain a lineout. The won ball went to the other wing, where Munster conceded another lineout on their line. Leinster won the ball and drove over for a try. Half time score 3-5 for Leinster.
Ten minutes into the second half, winger Jamie Evans (Newtown School) scored an excellent try from the half way line. Prior to this, Leinster had been attacking, Munster centre, Jeffrey Hitchmough, turned over the ball and spread it out to winger, Evans.
He attacked up the line of touch to score a well worked try. Munster now led 8-5. On the 65th minute, the ball was chipped into the pathway of winger, Conor Quinn (Glenstal), who scored the decisive try to give Munster a 13-5 point win.
