The League Phase of the Schools Bowen Shield and Under 14 League have been completed, with the semi-finals in doubt right up to the final whistle in both competitions.
As point’s difference did not count, it was the result of the previous meeting between the sides that decided the issue where sides finished level in the table. St. Munchin’s came out on top in the Bowen Shield. They finished level with C.B.C. but because of their 20-12 win over the Cork side, they will now face fourth place P.B.C. at Corbally next Wednesday, while Christians will face Ard Scoil R s at Lansdowne.
These games are a repeat of last Wednesday’s games where their was nothing between the sides. St. Munchin’s defeated PBC at Wilton 22-17. Paul Rowley was the star for ‘Munchin’s, scoring two tries, two conversions and a penalty. In a hard fought game at Lansdowne, a great defensive display earned CBC a 13-0 victory over a game Ard Scoil R s side.
The winners scored all their points in the opening half with a try from Peter O’Driscoll and two penalties from Mark O’Donovan. Ard Scoil R s came out on top in the Under 14 League after they defeated CBC in the top of the table clash 17-3. Two tries from Barry Sheehan and one from Paul Clayton set the Limerick side on the road to victory. Rockwell secured their semi-final berth with an 8-3 victory over Castletroy College.
The Limerick College managed to take fourth spot as a result of St. Munchin’s losing to PBC 32-5. Next week’s semi-final pairings are Ard Scoil R s v Castletroy College and C.B.C. v Rockwell.
