A much changed Munster side handed Ulster their fourth home defeat of the season beating them 24-3 at Ravenhill on Saturday evening.
Paul Burke who was as accurate as ever with the boot had opened the scoring after 14 minutes with a penalty but neither side was able to gain the upper hand until just before the break when Mossie Lawlor was able to snatch an intercept – after Adam Larkin had thrown a speculative pass and race away for the games first try however Burke was unable to add the extras.
Ulster were finally on the board when Larkin knocked over a penalty eight minutes into the second period, but Burke had soon negated this with a second kick of his own but failed to open a bigger margin when his next chance went just wide
However soon after Ronan Frost was penalised for a deliberate charge down and Burke stretched Munster’s lead from the resulting penalty, while more Ulster indiscipline allowed Burke to add three more points only a few minutes later.
Despite Ulster coach Mark McCall making a hand full of replacements there was no way back for the home side with Shaun Payne rubber stamping the win in injury time with his side s second try Burke converting to give a personal haul of 14 points.
Final Score: Munster 24-3 Ulster
Ulster 3 Larkin pen.
Munster 24 Lawlor, Payne tries, Burke conv, 4 pens.
