Five superb tries by former All-Blacks legend Christian Cullen has helped propel the fortunes of resurgent Munster and earned their in-form full back the nomination as the Guinness Draught Can Celtic League Player of the Month for October.

Munster have leap-frogged up the Celtic League points table to second place as a consequence of the inspiration provided by Cullen’s contribution of five tries in key matches in the month of October.

The tryfest from the ex All Blacks hero started on October 3 when he scored a try in Munster’s 19-13 win over Llanelli Scarlets at Thomond Park. The following week he scored two more in Munster’s 28-26 win over Glasgow and rejuvenated Cullen notched a further two tries and also a drop goal as rampant Munster enhanced their October recovery when they beat hapless Cardiff by 49-18 at Thomond Park.

Ronan Beirne, Guinness Brand Manager said, “In addition to the continued top form by Ireland in beating South Africa and the USA., the big talking point in domestic rugby has been the resurgence of Munster. Their rise up the Celtic League table was inspired by the brilliance of Christian Cullen, whose five tries throughout October highlighted the true prowess of the former All Black and the merit of the Munster squad. I congratulate Christian Cullen on his well deserved nomination as Guinness Draught Can Celtic League Player of the Month for October.”

The Guinness Draught Can Celtic League Player of the Month was decided by members of the national sports media and will continue each month throughout the Celtic League. The September award was won by Gary Brown of Leinster.
