A Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) disciplinary hearing yesterday (tuesday) decided no further action was necessary against Ospreys No 8 Ryan Jones who was red-carded in the Celtic League game against Munster at Thomond Park.
Jones escaped a ban when the WRU hearing decided that the sending-off was sufficient punishment for Ryan who appeared to stand on Donncha O’Callaghan’s head towards the closing stages of the opening half.
The disciplinary panel – chaired by Geraint Edwards and consisting of WRU board members Russell Howell, Ray Wilton, Mal Beynon and Brian Fowler and disciplinary sub-committee member John Owen – may also have felt that the Ospreys No 8 had suffered enough at the hands (or foot) of Lyn “He’ll get a kick up his arse for that.” Jones.
The decision means that Jones will be available for the all-important Heineken Cup match in Thomond Park on January 8th.
