Brian Lima will arrive in Ireland late this evening having flown from Hong Kong where he helped his native Samoa to a 29-7 victory over Portugal in the Plate final.

Brian Lima will arrive in Ireland late this evening having flown from Hong Kong where he helped his native Samoa to a 29-7 victory over Portugal in the Plate final.

Samoa narrowly missed out on a place in the Melrose Cup – the main competition eventually won by Fiji – when they were beaten 12-7 by England on Saturday.

They had to come from behind to beat Ireland 19-14 in the Plate quarter final and defeated Russia, 29-12 at the penultimate stage.

On TuesdayLima will travel to meet with his new team-mates before returning to Dublin for the necessary medical examinations.
