In a tense game in Cashel on Sunday, Cashel won a place in the Munster Junior Plate final after a tight victory over Cobh Pirates. With Cashel set to face Muskerry in the final, one can expect a determined performance from both sides.

Despite making a number of changes from their quarter final line up, Cobh Pirates opened the scoring with a penalty converted by Brendan Ronan, only to be answered by his opposite number Trevor Breen. Cashel missed two penalty kicks in the first half, keeping the sides level at half time and setting up a tight battle in the second half. It was to be Cashel s day however, with winger James Hannigan getting the touch down after a period of pressure from the Tipperary side to give them the edge. Ronan once more slotted over another penalty, but it wasn t enough to upset the home side.

Cashel will be hoping to add more silverware to their tally when they meet Muskerry in the final of the Munster Junior Plate. Cashel won their first ever provincial title earlier this season with a spirited victory over high fliers Nenagh Ormond in the Munster Junior Clubs Cup. In the first round, Cashel defeated Thurles on a 25-15 margin, while they disposed of St. Senan s in the second round by 35-14.

Cobh Pirates suffered another disappointment, having lost out on the Munster Junior League First Division title when they were beaten by Nenagh Ormond on a narrow 14-9 margin.
