2005/2006 MUNSTER SENIOR CUP
The draw for the 2005/6 Munster Senior Cup took place in the Berkeley Court Hotel in Dublin last Friday night, taking place outside of the province for the first time in the 120 year history of the competition. A record number seventeen teams will compete for the prestigious title, with an added incentive included this year with the introduction of the All Ireland Cup competition. Teams in the latter stages of the Munster Senior Cup will be given the opportunity to compete for a national Cup title due to commence in November. In the first round of the Munster Senior Cup, seven games will take place, with three teams given a bye. In Round Two, ten teams will compete, with all five winners of the Round 2 matches qualifying for the All Ireland Cup. From these five teams, two will play a Munster Senior Cup quarter final, leaving four teams to contest for the Munster Senior Cup semi finals. Kicking off at the end of September, rugby fans can look forward to a feast of top quality action early in the new season.
