Munster Crash in Welford Road

Munster were brought down to earth in no uncertain fashion when they suffered a 50-19 defeat at the hands of Leicester Tigers at Welford Road on Friday night.

Leicester Tigers ran in six tries, four of which were converted by Andy Goode to end up 50-19 winners against Munster in front of 7,700 at Welford Road on Friday night.

Munster were leading 9-6 after 30 minutes and up to that point had given as good as they got although there was the worrying aspect of them turning over ball at a frequent rate.

Then, in the closing stages of the half, lapses in concentration allowed the Tigers in for two tries – the first created by Alex Tuilagi for captain Daryl Gibson and then Tuilagi himself claiming the second – and two more followed shortly after the restart to leave Munster with little to fight for except pride.

The home side side then introduced Martin Corry, Ben Kay,Graham Rowntree, Leon Lloyd and Autin Healey and their neat total domination resulted in furter tries for Leo Cullen and apenalty try.

Then Munster produced perhaps as good a move as the was seen in the game when replacement Trevor Halstead broke from his own 22, found John Kelly in support and might have had a try had Kelly managed to link with Brian Touhy.
