Draw is made for opening rounds of the Junior Cup

Holders Cork Constitution face difficult start to defence of their title

The draw for the First and Second Rounds of the Heineken Munster Junior Challenge Cup has produced some intriguing encounters.

Holders Cork Constitution have been drawn at home to Crosshaven in a repeat of last season s semi-final and the Seasiders will welcome the chance of making amends for that defeat. For the winners is the probability of a trip to high flying Youghal. The East Cork side must first overcome Waterford City in the opening round.

Other intriguing ties are the meeting of Cobh Pirates and Dolphin, Clonmel at home to last season s beaten finalists U.C.C. and Old Christians against Kanturk.

There were only two games in the opening round of the Northern Section with the big game being the meeting of Garryowen and Thurles in a second round tie. Ennis will relish the prospect of a home tie against Shannon and the winners of the first round tie between Nenagh Ormond and St. Senan s will entertain Kilfeacle.

First round ties will be played on the 12th February with the exception of the Old Christians v Kanturk and Waterford City at home to Youghal which will be played a week later because of the involvement of Kanturk and Youghal in the All Ireland Junior Cup.
