Right Price Tiles Volunteer of the Month

The Munster Branch is delighted to congratulate Neil Kelly from UL Bohemian RFC on becoming the February winner of the Right Price Tiles Volunteer of the Month

The Munster Branch is delighted to congratulate Neil Kelly from UL Bohemian RFC on becoming the February winner of the Right Price Tiles Volunteer of the Month having been nominated by his club.

Neil Kelly has been involved with UL Bohs for over eight years. When Neil first got involved at Bohs he had just returned to Ireland from America where he had worked for Enterprise Ireland. Neil is married to Anna with two children, a girl and a boy. His son Barry currently plays for the under 16’s at Bohs. Like most parents Neil got involved in the club through his son and has been committed to Mini Rugby at the club. When his son’s team reached Under 13’s Neil went back down to under 8’s to coach a new group of aspiring rugby players. This commitment to mini rugby is now bearing fruit with over 450 youth players training or playing matches in Annacotty every Sunday morning. As Head of the Underage section at Bohs he has also had to manage over 70 coaches and assistant coaches. As a player Neil played at centre for Clanwilliam. Neil was also a member of the panel of St. Michael F.C. who won an FAI Junior Cup in the 70’s. In his current position Neil has pushed coaching standards at the club. He has ensured that all our underage players are getting the most out of their time playing for Bohs and of course that they are all having fun!

Neil joins Nenagh Ormond s Pat Whelan, who was the inaugural winner of the Right Price Tiles Volunteer of the Month in November, Frank Moynihan of Sunday s Well who was the December winner of the Volunteer of the Month Award and Donal O Connell from Richmond RFC who was the January winner.

The Right Price Tiles Volunteer Recognition Programme was launched to give clubs and schools the opportunity to acknowledge the significant contribution made by individuals who have developed, promoted and/or advanced the sport of Rugby in the local community and in the province. Through the Volunteer Recognition Programme, Munster Rugby would like to acknowledge, honour and reward these heroes who devote countless hours week in week out, year after year to provide a safe and enjoyable environment at the grassroots of the game. From the kitchen worker to the weekend linesman to the parents that manage and coach under-age sides. True heroes, each one of them.

This programme kicked off in November 2005and will finish in May 2006, with six individual Volunteer of the Month awards given. The Volunteer Recognition programme is open to any person currently associated with domestic rugby in Munster, in a non-paid capacity at a club, school, college, university or associated affiliate of Munster Branch IRFU.
