Irish U18 Squad named for European Championships

A 26 man Irish U18 squad has been named for the European Championships in Italy in April, and includes six Munster players

FIRA AER U18 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2006

TREVISO

Six Munster players have been named on the 26 strong Irish U18 team that will travel to the FIRA Aer U18 European Championships in Treviso next month. The squad includes Nenagh Ormond s Conor Whelan (hooker), Clonmel s David Foley (2nd row), Sean Nixon (back row) from Newcastle West, Dale Harris (scrum half) from Waterpark, Michael Moynihan (prop) from Sunday s Well and Michael Cronin from Midleton (back row). The team will play Scotland in a friendly game this coming Sunday in Greystones prior to their departure for the European Championships, with their first game against Italy on April 2nd. Ireland are in Group A, along with England, Portugal, France, Russia, Scotland, Georgia and Italy. In their second round game on Wednesday 12th April, they are will face either England or Portugal. Playoffs for placings will be determined by a final game on Saturday 15th April.

Also included in the Management team is Cashel coach Ray Egan, who was the Munster U21 Fitness Advisor this season as well as Technical Analyst Len Browne, who is the UCC Assistant Coach.

  • Losers Ireland v Italy play losers England v Portugal (8pm, Mogliano Veneto)
