FIRA AER U18 European Championships

Having lost to Italy 24-5 in their opening game, Ireland U18 s came back into the competition with a 13-0 victory over Portugal on Wednesday.

Having lost to Italy 24-5 in their opening game, Ireland U18 s came back into the competition with a 13-0 victory over Portugal on Wednesday.

Midleton RFC’s Michael Cronin got the Irish off to the perfect start with a second-minute penalty, which was the only score for the first half. However, second half tries from Karl Manning and David McGergor gave Ireland the victory, keeping Portugal scoreless.

The side in captained by Clonmel RFC s second row David Foley, and also includes Conor Whelan (Nenagh Ormond RFC), Michael Moynihan (Sunday s Well), Dale Harris (Waterpark), Sean Nixon (Newcastle West) and Michael Cronin (Midleton RFC).

The Irish have a final outing against Georgia in Paese on Saturday.
