Rugby Stars visit Limerick’s Newest Secondary School

Limerick’s newest secondary school, Ghaelcholaiste Luimnigh, held their first rugby training session recently, aided by Munster Rugby stars Jerry Flannery and Ian Dowling

T s maith do Ghaelchol iste Luimnigh!

The first pupil who entered the doors of Limerick s newest secondary school, Gaelchol iste Luimnigh, was awarded the luxury of a meal with the Munster Rugby team. First year student, Adrian Hickey said I couldn t believe it, I m so lucky to get this prize just for being in school early!!!

The new pupils of the newest post-primary college in Limerick have been overwhelmed by the extent of the connection between Gaelchol iste Luimnigh and Youth Development Officer, John Lacey. In addition to the fantastic prize won by Adrian, students were taken to St. Mary s rugby pitch on Tuesday 5th of September for a coaching session with Eddie Price. Students were delighted by the presence of Munster rugby stars Jerry Flannery and Ian Dowling. They were given posters of the Munster team which both stars signed. Both players chatted and practiced with the pupils before returning to further training in the University Arena. Jerry Flannery and the pupils spoke in Irish and the pupils were highly impressed that he also attended a Gaelscoil (An Mhodhscoil, Ascaill U Chonaill, The Model, O

Connell Avenue). Jerry is an avid supporter of the Irish language and has commentated for TG4 in the past.

Coaching with Eddie Price will commence on September 12th in St. Mary s rugby pitch.
