Munster Schools Under 18 Tour to Somerset and Gloucestershire
SOMERSET 13-MUNSTER SCHOOLS 15
GLOUCESTERSHIRE 16 MUNSTER SCHOOLS 17
Our tour kicked off in Somerset on Friday night against a team excited at the opportunity to stand toe to toe with the young men of Munster Rugby. The game began at rapid pace with Munster putting the first points on the board through a strong surge from number eight, James Ryan converted by Andrew Burke. The boys from Somerset responded quickly by reacting to one of our mistakes which saw their winger intercepting a pass on the half way line, and scoring under the posts. Now surprising our heads did not drop and we worked tirelessly only to be rewarded with a match winning try scored by winger Paul Gleeson.
Our second match began on Sunday morning against Gloucestershire who were much more physical than ourselves. We were not to be intimidated and we drew first blood through a typical Munster Rolling maul scored by Peter K-dog Kelleher, converted by outhalf Andrew Burke. From then on we maintained the lead with Paul Gleeson once again scoring a decisive try. The score finished 17-16 in our favour and we ended the tour on a high going the first game of the interprovincial series against Ulster.
