Draw for AIB Senior and Junior Cups are made

Draw favours Munster sides with home draws with only Nenagh Ormond and Crosshaven having to travel.

The draws for the AIB Senior and Junior Cups took place at Lansdowne Road and it threw up some enticing fixtures.

Defending champions Cork Constitution were not so lucky as they were drawn at home to Lansdowne in the only Preliminary Round draw of the Senior Cup. The winners of this tie will face St. Mary’s College in Templeville Road in the next round.

Division One champions Shannon and last season’s beaten league finalists Clontarf have been drawn together in a mouth-watering ‘return match. Clonakilty will host fellow Division Two side Greystones.

Nenagh Ormond the only Third Division side were not so lucky, as they were drawn away to Belfast Harlequins and Munster s other representatives Garryowen will face Buccaneers at Dooradoyle.

In the AIB Junior Cup last year beaten finalists Youghal will host Mallow in a Cork derby. The other East Cork side Cobh Pirates were given a home tie against Boyne while Crosshaven will have to go West where they will face Monivea.

Following the completion of the first round, the winning teams will again be entered into an open draw in January for the AIB Cup quarter-finals. The Senior quarter finals will be played on February 3/4, 2007 with the semi finals scheduled for 31st March. The Junior quarter finals are scheduled for 10th February with the semi finals down for the 17th March.
