Heineken Cup Semi Final Draw
24th January 2007 By Munster Rugby
If Leicester Tigers as expected account for Stade Francais in their quarter final clash at Welford Road then they will meet the winners of the Llanelli Scarlets/Munster clash at a semi final venue of their choosing.
The semi-final draw took place at Twickenham yesterday and it also decried that should Leinster beat Wasps in the quarter final then they will have to travel most probably to Biarritz – they will start long odds-on favourites to beat Northampton Saints – in the semi final, a game likely to be played in San Sebastian.
Austin Healey, who won Man of the Match award on the two occasions that Leicester won the title, was on hand yesterday to help conduct the draw and already he is predicting a Leicester versus Biarritz final.
“I texted Martin Corry after the game (v Munster) and said that was the best performance by Leicester in four years,” he said. “The physicality of the forwards was immense and if they continue that they will have a good chance in the rest of the tournament.
“If I was going to put money on it I think the final will be Biarritz and Leicester.”
Semi-Final Draw.
