Thomond Park Stadium Director

THE €40M Development of Thomond Park is due to be completed by the end of 2008 and Munster are looking for a Stadium Director to manage all aspects of the new stadium.


With a capacity of 26,000 the facility will contain two large suites with a capacity of 500 and 200 seating respectively, 20 corporate boxes, a bar with standing room for 1000 and a number of smaller suites with a seating capacity for between 30 and 60 people. This facility will play a key role in the development of Munster Rugby and offers a challenging and an exciting opportunity for the person who will be appointed to fill the key role of: 
Stadium Director Thomond Park.

The Role: Reporting to the CEO Munster Rugby to manage all aspects of the Stadium from start up including Stadium operations (event and non-event day) covering all financial, operational, safety and commercial matters of the stadium. It is envisaged that the role will commence in October 2007.

Responsibilities: 

Strategic; developing the strategic plan for the stadium. 
Direct all aspects of stadium operations including facilities, staff, event management, negotiating and managing 3rd party contracts with service providers.
PR & dealing with external relationships i.e. Co. Council, Gardaí, local residents, health authorities etc.
Full financial control and management, including budgeting.
Selling and marketing of the facility for non match days. 

The Person.

Business or related qualification;
A minimum of 10 years experience of managing a commercial facility of similar scale with ‘bottom-line’ responsibility.
Strong interpersonal, teamwork, leadership and communication skills.
Able to take initiatives and enterprising
Excellent systems, organisational & planning skills. 
Experience of managing a Multi-use facility (e.g. a large hotel in a start-up context) would be desirable.
