Newcomer Priestland at 10 for Scarlets
20th September 2007 By Munster Rugby
Young fly-half Rhys Priestland makes his Magners League debut for the Scarlets against Munster on Saturday at Musgrave Park (5.30pm).
Regular No10, Ceiron Thomas faces a spell on the sidelines for a couple of weeks due to a knee injury and although Scarlets Director of Rugby, Phil Davies is forced to make the change it’s one he is quite confident about, “It’s disappointing to lose Ceiron for a couple of weeks but this is an exciting opportunity for Rhys,” he explained.
“We always knew our squad was small compared to others but I have no qualms about putting Rhys in. He’s only 20 years old but with Jon Davies, Lou Reed (both 19), and Ken Owens who is also only 20, we are building something special at Stradey Park.”
The only other change to the side which defeated Ospreys last time out sees tighthead Bruce Douglas also make his first start of the season.
