Introducing – Lifeimi Mafi

Lifeimi Mafi celebrated his 25th birthday last August and won his 25th Munster cap in the game against Cardiff Blues in Musgrave Park.

Born in Tonga, Mafi moved to New Zealand whom he represented at Under 19 and Under 21 level. He played for Manawatu in 2003 and in 2005 was on the Taranaki side that played the British & Irish Lions. He was also a member of the Wellington Hurricanes before leaving to join Munster where he made his debut this time last year.

Favourite Food: Wagamamas Yaki soba

Favourite Film:  Transformers.

Most enjoyable holiday location:   Dubai in the sun on the poolside/beach.

Favourite sport other than rugby:  Volleyball, UFC.

The sport you least like:  Lawn Bowls.

Person you would most like to meet:  Pharrell Williams.

Sportsperson you admire most:  Rey Mysterio.

Hobbies:   Ps3,Cinema.

Where and when did you first play rugby:  Palmerston North, New Zealand, playing barefoot rugby at the age of seven.

Biggest influence on career:  Fiance and family.

Best career advice you were given:  Think fast or you’re last.

What you like Most/Least about being a rugby player: The thing  I like about being a Munster rugby player is the fanbase. The kids are wicked, makes you want to play that extra bit harder. I don’t really like losing but you got to know what losing feels like to know how great it is to win..

Other sports that you played.:  Volleyball, Basketball.

Best rugby memory:  First run on for Munster vs Bourgoin 28th October.

Rugby Player you admire most: Christian Cullen.

Rugby team you admire most:  Ikaletahi, Tongan National team

Sporting event you would most like to attend:  WWE royal rumble.

If you weren’t a Pro rugby player what would you be:  I would still be a student studying at University.

Plans for life after rugby and what provision have you made:   Not decided yet.

Advice you would give to aspiring pro rugby player:  Play at flyhalf and you always get on T.V. (haha). 

Three people you would invite to dinner and why: Jamie Fox, 50 cent, Justin Timberlake
