Clermont Confident
7th January 2008 By Munster Rugby
Clermont gave themselves the best possible lift ahead of their clash with Munster by beating Auch 26-6 in the sixth round of the French championship.
They scored three tries through wingers Aurélien Rougerie and Vonowale Nalaga and flanker Julien Bonnaire while out-half Brock James added a conversion and three penalties.
It was a victory that lifted them to the top of the Championship table if only for 24 hours until Toulouse defeated Castres 44-23 to edge two points clear of Clermont who in turn are four clear of third placed Biarritz.
