Cork and Limerick Welcome Munster Rugby for Breakfast

Rugby fans in Cork and Limerick have an opportunity to learn about life as a professional rugby player when Munster Rugby hosts their annual Breakfast Briefings on March 5th and 6th.

Hosted in association with Cork and Limerick Chambers, the Breakfast Briefings will be held on the 5th and 6th  March. The purpose of the Breakfast Briefings is to give supporters a view behind the scenes of running a professional rugby team.  Supporters will also have the opportunity to take part in an open discussion with team management and players on all aspects of the professional game in a Questions & Answers session. All proceeds from the events will be donated by Munster Rugby to the children’s units of the Mercy Hospital Cork and the Regional Hospital Limerick.

Garrett Fitzgerald, CEO of Munster Rugby explained “this is our fourth year hosting these annual breakfast briefings.  It is incredible to look at the difference in the business challenges of running Munster Rugby today versus three years ago.  These briefings give us an unique opportunity to outline to the broader community the range of commercial activity required to support the operation of a professional rugby team.”  He added “the redevelopment of Thomond Park, sponsorship deals with Adidas and Toyota along with the launch of a clothing range are just some of the major commercial developments taken place over the past year.  Each new season brings major business challenges for Munster Rugby and we have so much to look forward to with the quarter finals of the Heineken Cup approaching and the opening of our new stadium.”

The Breakfast Briefings start with a presentation by Munster Rugby CEO, Garret Fitzgerald on “Running a Professional Rugby Team.”  This will be followed by a Questions & Answers forum with Munster Director of Rugby Declan Kidney who will be joined by several senior players.

The Munster Rugby Breakfast Briefings will take place in the Clarion Hotel, Cork on Wednesday 5th March and the Hilton Hotel, Limerick on 6th March from 7.45 a.m. to 9.30 a.m.  Tickets are available from Cork Chamber on 021-4509044 and Limerick Chamber on 061-415180.  There are a limited number of tickets available for each event and admission is by pre-paid ticket only.
