Big Screen Event For Heineken Showdown

Gloucester Rugby will go the extra yard to help satisfy demand for their Heineken Cup quarter-final against Munster by launching a big screen event at GL1 Leisure Centre.

The current Premiership leaders will take a slice of the legendary Kingsholm atmosphere on the road for the first time ever by allowing up to 2,000 supporters the opportunity to watch the game together.

The last remaining tickets at Kingsholm sold out in little under an hour last Monday and with increased demand for what is one of the biggest games in the club?s history, the additional venue is the next best thing to reproduce the matchday experience.

?The Heineken Cup quarter-final represents a massive occasion for both the club and the City as a whole ? there has probably never been an occasion like it in terms popularity for us,? said Gloucester?s managing director Ken Nottage.

?We are aware that due to the massive demand for this game we were unable to accommodate everyone at Kingsholm but we want to do something special for a game of this magnitude and hope it is something the city and supporters will really support.

?The club is doing everything they can to ensure supporters who want to be around the city to soak up the atmosphere on that day can ? I think this is a great initiative.?

Ken Meakins, Marketing Manager of GL1 said: ?If we can assist in some way by becoming a mini Kingsholm I think it will be fantastic for the city and Gloucester Rugby.

?I am positive GL1 can go some way to replicating Kingsholm?s unique atmosphere and we look forward to welcoming in both Gloucester and Munster fans for a great day?s rugby ? which is something the city is famous.?

There are 2000 tickets available at ?10 each, with a complimentary pint on arrival. Doors open at 1pm and will show the first quarter-final between London Irish and Perpignan before Gloucester?s showdown at 5.30pm.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Monday March 17th at the ticket office, on the phone 0871 8718781 or are available on line at http://www.gloucesterrugby.co.uk/
