Semi Spot in Stirling Sevens

Munster Rugby Sevens Side reach the Semi Final of the Ondeo City of Sterling 7’s Tournament.

They may not have gotten their hands on the silverware, but the Munster Rugby young guns provided a great display of rugby on Saturday, as they claimed a semi final spot in their very first Seven’s Tournament.

The Munster Rugby side, which was selected from available Development and Academy contracted players and AIL Club Players, lost out to the Kenny Logan RBS Private Banking All Stars, which included current English and Scottish Sevens Internationals.  The All Stars subsequently went on to the win the Tournament as they defeated Edinburgh Rugby in the final.

Not everyone came away empty handed as Jeremy Manning scooped the “Player of the Tournament” award, showing impressive form against stiff competition from the International Sevens’ Players.

From a developmental player point of view the tournament was extremely beneficial for enhancing the players’ skills, and will feature on the calendar over the next coming years.

Overall it was a hugely enjoyable weekend and a special thanks has to be given to Jim Steel MD of Dataspace Scotland Ltd. who sponsored the Munster Rugby Sevens Squad.  A word of thanks also to Sarah Bennie, the Tournament Coordinator.
