Good Start For McGahan
24th August 2008 By Munster Rugby
Tony McGahan’s reign as Munster coach got off to the best possible start with a six try 46-22 win over the US Eagles at Rentschlers Field in Hartford Connecticut yesterday.
After a nervy start Munster took the initiative and led 20-15 at half-time and second half tries from Frank Sheahan – his second of the game – and two from impressive replacement Bary Murphy saw Munster run out comfortable winners. In between Sheahan’s try and Murphy’s brace, Munster almost added further to their try tally when Tomas O’Leary lost control with the line at his mercy and Darragh Hurley’s score at the posts denied by what was deemed a forward passafer Rua Tipoki had made a searing break.
The opening half scores came from Sheahan, Billy Holland and Lifeimi Mafi.
