Zurich – Official Sponsor of the Munster v New Zealand game

Zurich and Munster Rugby announced the sponsorship deal this afternoon that will see Zurich become the title sponsor for the Munster V New Zealand match, taking on the title of the “Zurich Challenge” on 18th November 2008 in Thomond Park Stadium, Limerick.

Commenting on the deal Patrick Manley CEO, Zurich said, “I am delighted to announce our sponsorship of the Munster V New Zealand match, the Zurich Challenge. Rugby, and Munster Rugby in particular, has captured the imagination of the Irish public in recent years.  The commitment, team building, pursuit of excellence and the sheer determination to succeed is really something to be admired and has, of course, a resonance in the business world.  This match has an historic significance and we look forward to playing our part in bringing a sell-out event to Munster’s great support base.”

The Munster V New Zealand Zurich Challenge has been a long anticipated match, and is the culmination of a number of events to celebrate the official opening of Thomond Park Stadium, which will be at full capacity with over 25,000 supporters in attendance.

Garrett Fitzgerald, Chief Executive of Munster Rugby said, “This match is obviously another significant milestone in the history of Munster Rugby, the official opening of a new landmark stadium in Limerick and playing New Zealand again after 30 years. We feel that Zurich is the ideal sponsor for this game given its international business and long tradition of rugby sponsorship”

The sponsorship agreement will afford Zurich a number of marketing opportunities with Munster Rugby and the prospect of a game which has the potential to be remembered for another 30 years.
