Munster Finish the Job
25th January 2009 By Munster Rugby
Munster travelled to the south of France and secured a home quarter final thanks to their 39 – 13 victory over Montauban.
They trailed by six points to nil before Tomas O’Leary scored the first of their five tries in the 22nd minute and only enormous defence denied them a second as Munster went for the jugular just before half time.
However, they did extend their lead with a Lifeimi Mafi try two minutes into the second half and although Scott Murray did cut the deficit to just nine points – after Mafi had scored his second in the 54th minute – Munster simply rolled up their sleeves and orchestrated two further tries for replacement Barry Murphy to run out convincing winners.
Munster will now meet Ospreys in Thomond Park in the quarter final on the weekend of April 11th/12th.
