Heineken Cup Semi Final Draw
27th January 2009 By Munster Rugby
If Munster manage to overcome the Ospreys in the quarter final of the Heineken Cup, they will face the winners of the Harlequins/Leinster tie in the semi final in May.
The quarter final against Ospreys has been confirmed for Sunday April 12th in Thomond Park, ko 1pm.
The draw for the semi-finals took place today in Murrayfield Stadium, where the May final will take place, with ERC Chairman Jean-Pierre Lux drawing the Munster/Ospreys ball out of the hat third.
The winners of Cardiff/Toulouse will go on to have home country advantage to the winners of Leicester/Bath. The winners of our quarter final tie, Munster/Ospreys, will have home country advantage to Harlequins/Leinster.
Munster were represented by backs coach Jason Holland and centre Rua Tipoki with Holland’s immediate reaction being, “There’s the not so little matter of the game against the Ospreys to consider first. They’re a class side with something like 15 of the Welsh squad plus the likes of Nikki Walker, Marty Holah and Filo Tiatia. That’s a pretty awesome bunch. There’s a lot of rugby to be played before then. We have Magners League games against Edinburgh, Dragons, Glasgow and Leinster, so once we have them out of the way we’ll switch the focus to the Heineken quarters finals.”
