Galbally’s Winning Form Continues
25th March 2009 By Munster Rugby
Galbally Ladies RFC continued their winning form on Sunday when they hosted Division 2 side Clanwilliam in the Semi-final of the All-Ireland Shield.
Galbally 7 Clanwilliam 0
Clan got off to a stronger start with Galbally having to defend in their 22 for the opening minutes of the game. However Galbally full-back Emma Cleary relieved the pressure and the nerves, with a fine kick to touch. This brought play into Clanwilliam’s half and it wasn’t long before Galbally began to apply the pressure.
Once again the Galbally forwards dominated and in what was only their 3rd time contesting scrums, looked the stronger of the sides. With the dry conditions it was a day for running and the Galbally backs made some fine breaks. With 20 minutes gone it was out-half Aisling Waters who crossed the line for the only try of the match, which Scrum-half Amy Guerin converted.
Galbally continued to dominate in the second half with some great runs and impressive tackling. Despite their best efforts the score remained 7-0 at full time. This was a fine performance from Galbally in only their second season of rugby and the Ladies await to hear who they will face in the final on 5th April.
